Design, Technology and Engineering is a rewarding subject and we hope that all students who take this subject will continue from Key Stage 3 to GCSE, A level, university and beyond. The creative and logistical skills learnt in the workshops involving Graphical skills and material knowledge are transferable to the whole curriculum and provide a focus and background to study. Students gain an essential grounding in the global issues of resources, technology, products and design.
It is an optional subject for students at Key Stage 4 and sixth form. At Key Stage 4 it attracts a range of students who have enjoyed the Design and Technology course at Key Stage 3.
At Sixth Form the subject attracts students with a keen interest in it; with a number of students continuing to study engineering, design or architecture based courses at university. The students produce 2 products during Year 12 that are set design briefs. In Year 13 the students will choose the context of their Controlled Assessment project.
