World Development enables students to form an understanding of their role as global citizens in the twenty first century and their responsibilities towards global development and sustainability.
Students are able to study the issues and responsibilities surrounding sustainable development and global citizenship in some depth. They also have the opportunity to consider issues of poverty and inequality and how these may be addressed in different ways. We hope that they will become better informed and more active participants in our global society.
World Development combines academic rigour, drawing on aspects of other Humanities subjects, with the opportunity to study the lives of people in a wide range of societies and communities, sometimes very similar to our own and sometimes very different.
