Erasmus+

What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is a programme founded by the European Commission which aims to create partnerships between schools and develop students’ awareness of other European cultures.

Taking part in the programme helps students and teachers to develop personally and professionally; they gain valuable international experience, broaden their horizons, experience new cultures and discover new ways of working. Erasmus+ is of particular benefit to young people who can learn new skills to improve their employability, acquire life skills, and develop their confidence.

Aylesbury High School has been collaborating with its European partner schools through Comenius for more than 10 years and through Erasmus+ since 2016.

Our three partner schools are:

Our  current Erasmus+ project: “A StandArt for Europe: Renaissances, Resistances, Dreams”

This project, which is running from September 2018 to July 2021, aims at reinforcing the education of young European citizens regarding the artistic and cultural background of their own country and that of their European neighbours. Since art is a mirror of the history of our continent, as well as its current dynamic and its future evolution, the project wants to give pupils the keys to access and understand the arts, whether visual, literary, musical or cinematographic. It should enable the pupils to develop a curiosity and open-mindedness towards their European neighbours as well as make them aware of the cultural wealth of Europe and of what their neighbours are bringing to them.

What does Erasmus+ give to AHS?

  • The opportunity for students to take part in exchanges with one of our partner schools
