- To put student voice at the heart of learning and school life
- To engage students by giving them control over aspects of their learning
- To link with the core work of the school
- To keep communication channels open between students, teachers and governors
We have recently revamped Student Voice at AHS. We have a Student Voice cycle each half term. In the first week the agenda is shared and discussed in form time. In the second week we hold two meetings one for Y10-Y13 and the second for Y7-Y9. A representative from each form group attends the relevant meeting. As soon as possible following the meetings, the minutes are shared and the form rep disseminates the information from the meeting in form time.
The meetings are run by the Head Girl. This year the Cabinet’s aim is to introduce a student debating forum to improve awareness of current issues and develop confidence in public speaking. We believe that being able to think for yourself and present and speak confidently in front of others are important skills that should be developed before entering the world beyond school.
